Fire in Taman Sari; Jakarta Deputy Gov Visits Evacuation Site

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria visited the evacuation site for victims of the fire incident on Jalan Keadilan Dalam I Keagungan, Taman Sari, West Jakarta, in the early hours of Monday, April 19, 2021.

Based on the photo posted on his Twitter account @arizapatria, Riza was accompanied by West Jakarta Mayor Uus Kuswanto, the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Head Sabdo Kurnianto, and staffers to monitor the evacuation site in the complex area of SMP Muhammadiyah 32.

“Our deep condolences to all victims, families of victims, and affected residents,” Riza tweeted.

According to him, five residents were injured. Two of them were rushed to the Taman Sari Community Health Center or Puskesmas, while the other three received treatment at the location.

The city administration, he added, has deployed a number of agencies to help the victims. “We continue to provide urgent needs such as tarpaulins, blankets, and others for displaced residents,” he said.

Riza also appealed to Jakarta residents to work together to lend a hand in helping the victims to meet their needs through community collaborative movements.

Previously, the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency reported that the fire in Taman Sari which broke out on Sunday, April 18, had burned at least 112 residential houses.
