Indonesia Covid-19 Update April 15; 6,177 New Cases, 167 Deaths

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Indonesia keeps increasing as the government continues to accelerate vaccinations. As of Thursday, April 15, there were 6,177 new infections over the last 24 hours, bringing the total caseload to 1,589,359.

The country also recorded 6,362 patients recovered and 167 patients died. The number of recoveries reached 1,438,254, while the number of casualties hit 43,073.

The information was published by the Covid-19 task force based on the data from the Health Ministry which was accessible for the public at covid19.go.id.

Jakarta contributed the highest number of positive cases with 1,330 cases, followed by West Java with 1,216 cases, Central Java with 841 cases, East Java with 294 cases, and Riau with 269 cases.

The highest number of deaths due to the coronavirus disease was in West Java with 42 cases, followed by Central Java (36 cases), East Java (26), Riau (10), and Jakarta (6). There were also 74,583 specimen samples being tested today.

As of today, 118,867 more people received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and 144,547 more people got their second shot. Thus, the total number of people who have been fully vaccinated reached 5,713,404.
