TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan asked his staff to prioritize economic recovery programs in the city's 2017-2022 mid-term regional development plan (RPJMD). Anies explained that the programs should not only target large and medium scale economic players.
"But we also have to pay special attention to micro and small scale businesses that are in large numbers in Jakarta," said Anies during the opening of the Regional Development Planning Forum (Musrenbang). Recording of the event was uploaded on the Jakarta Development Planning Board’s (Bappeda) YouTube channel on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
The Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of Jakarta Office recorded that the capital's economy in the fourth quarter of 2020 still contracted 2.14 percent year-on-year. In the third quarter of the same year, the city's economic growth was minus 3.82 percent.
Anies reminded that all activities related to policies could encourage the private sector to move faster considering that such private movement could trigger the capital’s economic recovery.
"Because the movement of private sectors will greatly affect labor absorption and regional income taxes," said Anies Baswedan.
