TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Association of Education and Teachers (P2G) on Wednesday claimed that the back-to-school trial on April 7 had gone as planned. Physical attendance in schools was introduced again after the government mandated remote learning during the heat of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
“In general, we have yet found any reports,” said P2G national coordinator Satriawan Salim today, April 14.
He mentioned that the trial of the schol reopening in Jakarta was commendable as parents’ consent was absolute before students were permitted to attend classes. Salim said the 50 percent of students who physically attend classes are those permitted by their parents.
Salim compared the regulation implemented by Jakarta to the Bogor Regency administration that opened 170 out of 230 schools, from pre schools to highschools, even though the teachers had not received Covid-19 vaccinations.
“Jakarta that has thousands of schools had only opened 85, but in Bogor, they opened 70 percent even though teachers there have not received Covid-19 vaccines,” said the P2G national coordinator.
The association found two cases of Covid-19 in Bogor high schools. Even though schools have been shut down again in the regency, he called for the local administration to put forth safety over any other aspects in conducting on-site studies.
