TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno is targeting Indonesia to become the leading adventure tourism destination in Southeast Asia. “The ministry will always be ready to provide support because this type of tourism creates huge business opportunities and will open up many jobs,” said Sandiaga via his Instagram account @sandiuno on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
To realize the goal, the ministry will collaborate with the Indonesia Adventure Travel Trade Association (IATTA), a home for all adventure tourism associations throughout the archipelago. “We believe that this collaboration will create something new that has not been thought of before [in tourism development],” Sandiaga said.
One of the tourist destinations that will be developed is rafting in Citarik, Sukabumi, West Java. It is expected to attract many tourists who visit the Lido special economic zone or KEK.
KEK Lido is planned to have world-class theme parks, golf resorts, retails and dining areas, six-star luxury hotels, as well as the development of a creative economy such as film studios and music festival venues.
The amusement park in KEK Lido was predicted to boost the number of domestic and foreign tourist arrivals to 63.4 million people until 2038 or an average of 3.17 million tourists per year.
