TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi hoped that the financial sector would recover soon following the Covid-19 vaccination to workers of bank and capital market sectors today, March 31, 2021.
“With this vaccination, the capital market, banking activities are expected to be protected from the exposure of Covid-19, and we hope that the financial activities will return to normal,” said the President in a live broadcast via the Finance Ministry’s YouTube channel today.
Widodo monitored the inoculation for workers engaged in the banking, non-banking, and capital market sectors on Wednesday morning at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) office building.
He was accompanied by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and Chief Commissioner of the Financial Services Authority, Wimboh Santoso.
The current main drivers of the economy, he opined, are consumption, investment, exports, and imports. The banking and capital markets are inseparable parts of the economic chain.
Jokowi believed that vaccination will provide protection for workers of the financial sector. “Especially for those who deal with customers every day, be it customer service or tellers, as well as those who also serve this community. They are given the priority [for vaccine],” he said.
