Fire at Pertamina's Balongan Refinery Affects 10 PLN Substations

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Java Distribution Main Unit of state power company PLN said that 10 distribution power stations have been affected by the fire at Pertamina's Balongan oil refinery. The refinery in Indramayu, West Java, caught fire at around 01:00 local time, March 29.
"We are concerned about what happened. We will continue to normalize our networks and are concerned about what is happening at this time. We will continue to work on normalizing the network and work closely with the government and authorities, to bring power back on. In some locations, we must first conduct a survey for the safety of the community," the Unit's general manager, Agung Nugraha, said on Monday, March 29.
Due to the power outage, 1,078 customers are unable to get electricity as Pertamina had shut down the substations.
At 08:00 this morning, one distribution substation has been normalized by first ensuring that everything is completely safe.
The fire that was reported to after midnight on Monday, March 29, 2021, resulted in the death of one individual. The fire is still blazing as of the time of this publication, but nearby residents have been evacuated to safety.
