TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked for expedited registration of domestic halal products through a one-stop service in the halal industrial zone.
He urged the Halal Inspection Agency, the Food, Drugs, and Cosmetics Research Institute, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), and the Halal Certification Agency (BPJPH) to synergize.
“So, everything is carried out there [in the halal industrial zone],” said Ma'ruf as quoted in a written statement on Friday, March 19.
The 2020 Global Islamic Economy report noted that the exports of Indonesian halal food and beverage products ranked fourth as the trade value has not been optimal yet.
Ma'ruf expected clear management of halal product registration in a bid to increase export competitiveness. He believed improvements in various sides would bring Indonesia to the top position in the halal product trade.
“I have asked Pak Bambang [VP Special Staffer] to hold a special discussion with the National Committee for Sharia Economy and Finance to discuss the data of halal product exports,” he added.
Ma'ruf Amin also hoped that domestic entrepreneurs would be enthusiastic to enhance their industrial performance. He said he would accommodate ideas of business actors and follow them up on the bureaucratic side. “So there will be no obstacles.”
