TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) on Thursday has simulated the use of the home-grown GeNose C-19 Covid-19 screening device on airport communities; not on the general public as it awaits for a green light from regulators.
“The simulation of GeNose only involved airport communities such as employees of air carriers, airport, and ground handling,” said acting general manager of YIA Agus Pandu Purnama on Thursday’s statement, March 19.
Pandu said the scale of the simulation was massive as it used 3 GeNose devices and 300 'breathing bags' as the equipment’s element of detection, isolation rooms, examination booths, and healthcare employees to conduct the tests.
He said this simulation will be evaluated internally and reported to the Transportation Ministry. Pandu said the national airport operator Angkasa Pura I expects to use the Covid-19 screening/detection device in YIA starting in April or May.
“Later on the operational hours of the GeNose C-19 on 15 airports will be adjusted with swab antigen and PCR test operational hours,” Pandu remarked.
