TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Cultural Agency is completing the construction of the city's culinary and souvenir center, which will be opened on the 3A floor of Pusat Grosir Cililitan (PGC) in East Jakarta. The place will offer indigenous Betawi cuisine and souvenirs.
"So far, we are confused about where we can buy souvenirs in Jakarta," said the Cultural Agency head Iwan Hendry Wardhana on Thursday, March 18, 2021.
Iwan explained that the establishment will be in line with the enforcement of Regional Regulation No. 4 of 2015 concerning the Preservation of Betawi Culture and Governor Decree No. 881 of 2019 concerning the Establishment of Condet as a Cultural Tourism Destination Area.
"On that basis, we want the city's five regions to have souvenir centers with the characteristics of Jakarta or Betawi," Iwan explained.
The construction of the culinary and souvenir center at the wholesale shopping mall is nearly complete and has entered the loading stage. The area will be managed by the agency's cooperative of Pamong Budaya Sejahtera in collaboration with the market's operator PT Prima Graha Citra and regional-owned lender Bank DKI.
Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) will take part in the culinary and souvenir center. "We are trying to collaborate with other parties and tenants who are members of the community and enthusiasts of Betawi arts and cultures," said Iwan.
