Non-Jakarta Elderlies Allowed to Join Mass Covid-19 Vaccination in Senayan

17 March 2021 17:51 WIB

V.S. Ritonga, a 84-year-old doctor, receives his first dose of China's Sinovac Biotech vaccine for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as Indonesia approved use of the vaccine for its elderly population, in Jakarta, Indonesia, February 8, 2021. Indonesia rolled out their vaccination program in January, targeting medical workers aged between 18 to 59 only, citing limited data on the safety of the available vaccine for anyone older. TEMPO.CO, JakartaSenior citizens who do not have a Jakarta ID Card are allowed to receive the Covid-19 shot during the mass vaccination at Istora Senayan beginning today, March 17, 2021.

The program is held in collaboration between the Health Ministry, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE), the Jakarta Provincial Government, and the Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC) as the SOE holding company.

The SOE vaccination center was initially opened to only public service officers and elderly people with Jakarta ID Cards.

“[Vaccination] for elderly people with no Jakarta ID Card in the SOE vaccination center kicks off starting today,” said the Health Ministry’s spokesperson for vaccination, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, as quoted from the ministry’s official website on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

However, elderlies willing to be vaccinated must first register via https://loket.com/event/vaksinasicovid19untuklansia to get the invitation that will be sent via WhatsApp or SMS containing a barcode and the schedule.

Participants can then visit the location based on the schedule and bring their ID Cards. As for non-Jakartans, they are obliged to bring a document noting their domicile in the city. Elderly people who are undergoing routine treatment for chronic disease are required to present a recommendation letter for the Covid-19 vaccine from a specialist.
