TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta-owned bus operator PT Transportasi Jakarta or Transjakarta targeted to operate 20-30 electric buses or e-buses by June 2021 which coincides with the city's 494th anniversary.
“If possible, this (operation plan of the e-buses) will be a big goal to welcome the 2030 target,” said the firm’s President Director, Sardjono Johny, in an online discussion on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
According to Sardjono, his side was keen to operate 100 electric fleets this year and for the long-term plan, it was targeted to operate 10,051 fleets by 2030.
“The operators must also be prepared as we will prepare electric fleets,” he said.
Transjakarta will not purchase the buses to serve its rapid transit routes in the capital. The fleets will be procured by operators that have been collaborating with the Jakarta provincial administration.
After the trial and feasibility tests, Transjakarta operators will either choose or buy the electric buses.
