TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto assures that a stimulus package from the National Economic Recovery program (PEN) will be able to restore the MSMEs sector from the effects of Covid-19 pandemic.
“The national economic recovery amidst the pandemic must start from the MSMEs sector as it contributes to 61 percent of Indonesia’s GDP,” citing Airlangga’s online post on March 16.
He explains that the government has issued a stimulus package meant to strengthen this sector such as tax incentives, credit restructuralization, interest rate subsidies, and many more.
“The government continues to push micro, small, and medium enterprises to rise again,” said the coordinating minister.
In a previous meeting with the Ministry of Trade, Airlangga elaborated the importance of MSMEs role in creating job opportunities and boost the national export performance and assured that this sector will grow rapidly through the use of digital technology with a potential value of US$124 billion by the year 2025.
