Govt Provides Young Farmers with Japan Internship Opportunity

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Department of Food Agriculture, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Bantul in Yogyakarta is reportedly preparing to register the region’s young farmers into an internship program in Japan, which is a program initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture.
“The central government’s program is meant to awaken the youths that are working in the agriculture sector by giving them internships to Japan,” said the department’s chief Yus Warseno on Monday, March 15.
He explained that the quota for the program will be prepared for 1,000 farmers across Indonesia which is meant to improve the skills and competitiveness of millennial farmers and make them ready for the global competition.
Warseno stated that the exact schedule for the internship to Japan is still not set but for sure will be held gradually starting this year. They have also opened the registration for further selection process.
“For those interested can register to each government instances and if they pass the selection they will be interned,” he said. “There are people who have registered, I myself have recommended some, we just need to wait for the selection process.”
