TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - One of Jakarta’s popular tourist sites, the Ragunan Zoo, has announced it will reopen to the public on Saturday, March 13 under strict COVID-19 health protocols after having been shut since December 2020 in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Visitors are limited to a maximum of 5,000 people or 50 percent of the total capacity,” said the Ragunan Zoo's head of promotions, Ketut Widarsana, in Jakarta on Friday, March 12.
The inner-city zoo will operate from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and only serve visitors who book tickets online through the official website bit.ly/PesantiketTMR.
The Ragunan Zoo has constantly been closed and reopened since the Covid-19 pandemic emerged in Indonesia. After its first temporary closure and attempts to restrict people’s movement, the zoo was only permitted to receive 2,000 daily visitors or 25 percent of its total capacity.
However, the Ragunan Zoo management asserted that people aged over 60 and children under the age of 9 are still banned from entering the zoo.
