TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria stated that the suspect naming of city-owned developer PD Sarana Jaya President Director Yoory C. Pinontoan would not interfere with the construction projects in the capital.
“Programs and others in the BUMD (regional-owned enterprise) are not hampered because this [corruption case] is an old case from 2018. The programs keep running,” said Riza at Jakarta City Hall on Monday, March 8, 2021.
Governor Anies Baswedan suspended Yoory C. Pinontoan from the latter's position after he was named a suspect in a corruption case by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Friday, March 5, 2021.
Riza confirmed that other officials at the company could still carry out the development program. “So when someone is undergoing a legal process, we respect it and give him/her an opportunity. Of course, we hope that the person concerned will be free,” he said.
Sarana Jaya is responsible for several city development projects, including the zero DP housing program and the Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF) Sunter in North Jakarta.
Riza explained that Yoory's position was temporarily led by the Development Director. The Jakarta government handed over the case to be processed legally.
“We uphold the principle of presumption of innocence and provide an opportunity for those concerned to clarify and defend in accordance with the existing facts and data,” Deputy Governor said.
