BMKG Issues Thunderstorm Warning for Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early weather warning of potential thunderstorms in Jakarta on Monday, March 8, 2021. Residents are asked to stay vigilant.
“Be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the South and East Jakarta during the day and evening,” the agency announced via its official website, Monday morning.
From Monday morning until night, parts of Jakarta areas were predicted to be cloudy while other parts will be flushed with heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning.
West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta were expected to have cloudy skies in the morning. Meanwhile, the weather in Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands was predicted to be partly sunny.
During the day, West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands will be shrouded in thick clouds. East Jakarta and South Jakarta, meanwhile, will have thunderstorms.
In general, all Jakarta regions will be cloudy at night. However, in the early hours of Tuesday, the Thousand Islands will experience light rain, while other areas will be partly sunny.
Cloudy skies will also cover the capital’s neighbors, viz. Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi, in the morning. Additionally, Bekasi City and Bekasi regency were predicted to have light rain in the afternoon, while Bogor Regency, Bogor City, and Depok will see moderate-intensity rainfall.
At night and dawn, BMKG predicted that the weather in Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi will be cloudy.
