TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government continues to increase the supply of the Covid-19 shot to fast-track vaccination. President Joko Widodo said 4.6 million doses of AstraZeneca's vaccine will arrive in Indonesia in March 2021.
Through the official Youtube channel of the Presidential Secretariat posted on Friday, March 5, Jokowi said the government is fast-tracking the vaccination process. Indonesia is currently in the process of vaccinating health workers, public officers and servants, Army and Police officers, market traders, teachers and educators, athletes, and media personnel.
At least 2.28 million Indonesians have been injected with the first dose, and 1.10 million have received the second dose.
From January to July 2021, the government is targeting to vaccinate 40.34 million people. "Twelve million vaccines have been distributed to all provinces and 514 city/regencies," he explained.
To date, Indonesia has secured 38 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. Three million of them are in finished form, the rest is in the form of raw materials.
