Indonesia Closes Another School after Student Contracts Covid-19

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia adds more to a list of schools that had to be re-closed, after students tested positive for Covid-19. The latest addition is SMPN 27, a State Junior High School in Batanghari, Jambi Province.
The school had reopened, but students are forced to study from home again ofter one pupil was confirmed to have been infected by the coronavirus.
"We are suspending school activities until we are certain that things are completely safe," headmaster Aprizan said on Tuesday, March 3.
Since the student was confirmed to have Covid-19, the school was fully sterilized and disinfected. SMPN 27 had resumed on-site learning activities for several weeks when the student contracted the virus from family members.
"A number of students and teachers have been tested and we are now waiting for the results," Batanghari Covid-19 Task Force spokesman, Elfi Yennie, said on Tuesday, March 2.
At the same day, Jambi recorded 45 new cases from three cities/regencies. In total, Jambi's caseload had reached 5,534, of which 1,143 are active cases.
