TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that the ministry will hold a conference to reveal the alleged bribery case within the Directorate General of Taxation. The press conference is scheduled to be held this noon at 13:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
In a written statement Sri Mulyani said the press conference will be attended by the Director General of Taxation Suryo Utomo, Finance Ministry’s Inspector General Sumiyati, and the ministry’s special staff of strategic communications Yustinus Prastowo.
This follows news coming from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy Alexander Marwata on Tuesday confirmed that the anti-graft agency is conducting an investigation on the alleged tax bribery within the ministry. However, he has yet revealed the identity of the employee.
Alex explained that the graft case involves a taxpayer handing a bribe to a State Official to lower the value of their tax. He was tight-lipped as to who the taxpayer is but believes that the value involved in the graft amounts to dozens of billions of rupiah.
KPK has searched a number of locations related to the investigation of this case and has coordinated its efforts with the Ministry Sri Mulyani leads and Directorate General of Taxation.
