TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Bina Marga Agency planned to revamp sidewalks on 10 city roads by adopting a complete street concept. The agency head Hari Nugroho said the concept is a rearrangement of streets to accommodate all needs of users.
“The concept is carried out by prioritizing pedestrians, cyclists, and public transportation users, which are also included in regional strategic activities in each region,” said Hari in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
The revamp was set to begin on three roads in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta, namely sidewalks along Jl. Senopati-Jl. Suryo, Jl. Wolter Monginsidi-Jl. Trunojoyo and Jl. Gunawarman from May to December 2021, which is approximately 4.6 kilometers long.
Kebayoran Baru was chosen as it has residential complexes, business centers, shopping centers, and tourism, including culinary tourism.
The provincial government would use the Regional Budget (APBD) for the project totaling Rp60 billion.
The sidewalk project would also support the transit-oriented development or TOD project in Kebayoran Baru and the 15-minute city mobility for various socio-economic classes, as well as encourage users of private vehicles to switch to public transportation and/or bicycles.
