Gibran Jokowi, Bobby Nasution Among 178 Regional Heads Inaugurated Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 178 regional heads who won the 2020 Regional Head Election or Pilkada will be inaugurated today, February 26, including Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Bobby Nasution. Both are son and son-in-law of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
The 178 districts/cities are regions whose previous term of office for regional heads ended on February 17, 2021.
“And regional heads who are involved in an election lawsuit that based on the Constitutional Court ruling are discontinued, the lawsuit is ceased,” said the Home Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Benny Irwan, on Thursday, February 25.
The inauguration of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, as well as the Regent and Deputy Regent, will be carried out online given the Covid-19 pandemic situations. To prevent from violating Article 164 of Law No. 10/2016 which stipulates that regents and mayors are appointed in the provincial capital by their respective governors.
They are obliged to apply strict health protocols. The number of people in the inauguration room is also limited to a maximum of 25 people.
“We encourage this inauguration to be done online, even though there are several provinces that have asked for a hybrid one. Each region will implement it in their respective provinces,” said Benny.
Gibran Jokowi and Bobby Nasution vying in the 2020 Pilkada managed to win in their respective regions. Gibran will be the Mayor of Solo, while Bobby will be the Mayor of Medan.
