Covid-19 Vaccination; Govt Eyeing 70 Million Vaccinated by July 2021

25 February 2021 16:48 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, predicted on Thursday, February 25, 2021, that 70 million Indonesians - up until July 2021 - will receive vaccine shots in Indonesia's Covid-19 vaccination program.

"From July to August we will get 70 million [Covid-19 vaccines] and our goal coincides with the country's official operation to create herd immunity and jump-start the economy," said the coordinating minister in an online discussion on February 25, 2021.

Luhut announced that there are already hundreds of thousands of the population that has received vaccine shots and that the government is eyeing for 500,000 daily vaccinations by the end of March and boost that capacity to 700,000 daily vaccinations in April 2021.

Luhut Pandjaitan believed that the government's initial goal to create herd immunity will be achieved as scheduled. The Indonesian government continues to boost the Covid-19 vaccination for 182 million people. President Jokowi had repeatedly ordered the completion of the program in December 2021.
