TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government planned to build artwork related to bicycles in front of the Indofood Tower Building in Central Jakarta. The city’s Transportation Agency Head Syafrin Liputo said it will serve as a reminder of the massive use of bikes during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This year, we are targeting to construct a permanent bicycle lane along the Senayan Roundabout until the Hotel Indonesia or HI Roundabout,” said Syafrin in a written statement on Wednesday, February 24.
He explained that the permanent lane will be 11.2 kilometers long. The construction is targeted to be completed in March 2021. The project is estimated to cost around Rp30 billion from third-party funding.
According to him, the construction process had started this month. The bike lane divider will use a planter box. The city government will also provide signs as supporting facilities.
The Jakarta Government will continue to disseminate to the public about the bike lane which is prohibited for motorized vehicles, Syafrin said.
