TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Police have establish a Task Force against Land Mafia, which will work at the provincial level. The team is tasked with eradicating land mafia practices in the provinces, and prosecute the perpetrators.
In doing its job, the task force will cooperate with the National Land Agency (BPN).
Sr. Comr. Ahmad Ramadhan, head of general information at the National Police's PR Division, said that the police are serious about prosecuting mafia practices in the land sector.
Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo had instructed all members of the force to thoroughly investigate land mafia cases throughout Indonesia, including the big shots who back the practice, as instructed by President Joko Widodo.
Sigit said that eradicating the land mafia is part of the 'Police Presisi' program, a.k.a. predictive, responsible and fair transparency policing.
