Jakarta Flood; Deputy Governor Says 20 Neighborhood Units Inundated

19 February 2021 00:37 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said he received reports of Jakarta flood that as many as 20 neighborhood units or RT were flooded on Thursday afternoon, February 18, 2021.

"The updated data shows that 20 out of 30,460 RT are flooded. The number is small," said Riza at the Jakarta City Hall on Thursday, February 18, 2021.

The government, Riza added, is making all-out efforts in preventing and containing floods in the capital. On Thursday afternoon, February 18, 2021, Riza visited Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency's (BPBD) information center and logistics to mitigate potential disaster following the early warning of extreme weather until this weekend.

"Hopefully, because of good cooperation between the provincial government, apparatus, and community, we can tackle floods in the future," Riza said.

The city government, Riza went on, had prepared 256 excavators and 260 dump trucks to deal with potential flooding, as well as increased the schedule for the dredging operation from one to two shifts. "So there will be accelerated dredging."
