TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin was waiting for the recommendation from the presidential medical team regarding the Covid-19 vaccination using the antibody developed by a China-based pharmaceutical firm Sinovac. The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) had permitted its emergency use for the elderly.
The spokesperson for the VP, Masduki Baidlowi, said Ma'ruf was ready to get the injection at any time as long as the presidential medical team issued a recommendation.
“The Vice President is ready (to be vaccinated) at any time, but that will be determined by the health team and the presidential medical team. If they do not suggest a vaccination, the VP will not be vaccinated,” said Masduki in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday, February 7.
Masduki added that the presidential medical team had been working to find the proper type of Covid-19 vaccine that would be suitable for the health condition of the VP. Apart from being included in the elderly group, Ma'ruf Amin had a ring or stent due to heart disease. The BPOM issued an emergency use authorization for a vaccine made by Sinovac dubbed Coronavac for use in elderly people or those aged over 60 years in Indonesia on February 5, 2021. The elderly would receive two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine with an interval of 28 days.
