BPBD Warns of Jakarta Flood as Sunter Hulu Watergate on Alert 2

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) warned of the Jakarta flood, calling on residents living along the banks of the Ciliwung River to stay vigilant as the water level at the Sunter Hulu watergate was on Alert 2 status.
“At 03:00 WIB, the height of the water level at Sunter Hulu is 240 cm or in Alert 2. People along the riverbanks are asked to be aware of the danger of flooding,” said an officer as posted on the official Twitter account of Jakarta BPBD on Monday, February 8.
Regions asked to be aware of flooding are Bambu Apus, Cilangkap, Pondok Ranggon, Setu, Lubang Buaya, Pondok Bambu, Pondok Kelapa, Cipinang, Cipinang Melayu, Cipinang Muara, Duren Sawit, Jatinegara Kaum, Kayu Putih, Pulogadung, Sumur Batu, Kelapa Gading Barat, Kelapa Gading Timur, Kebon Bawang, Rawa Badak Selatan, Rawa Badak Utara, and Sungai Bambu.
Several floodgates also reported an increase in water level. Manggarai watergate was on Alert 3 with a water level of 775 cm and Karet watergate was also on Alert 3 with a water level of 510 cm. Meanwhile, Pasar Ikan, Cipinang Hulu, and Sunter Hulu were on Alert 2.
Previously reported, the Ciliwung River was overflowing and inundated the area along its banks. The flooded areas include Pejaten Timur in South Jakarta and Kebon Pala in East Jakarta with a water height of up to 1.5 meters, resulting in the Jakarta flood.
