TEMPO.CO, Semarang - Semarang Airport, or the Ahmad Yani International Airport, is closed today until tomorrow morning, Feb. 7, at 06:00 a.m. as the floodwater inundated its runway.
General Manager of state airport operator Angkasa Pura I at Ahmad Yani Airport, Hadi Ariyanto, confirmed the statement.
According to Hardi, today’s flights were all affected by the disaster. "Until now, there are 21 flights, arrivals or departures, that are affected [by the flood]," he said.
The affected routes include flights from and to Jakarta, Pangkalan Bun, Surabaya, Makassar, and Banjarmasin. "All passengers scheduled to fly today will be rescheduled for tomorrow’s flights," Hardi said.
The flood also inundates the road access to the airport. Some 54 pumps were deployed to reduce the floodwater. "Hopefully, the weather will improve so the cleaning of the runway and other facilities will work optimally," he said.
Based on the notice to airmen number B0182/21 NOTAMR B0181/21 today at 14:00, the Semarang Airport temporarily stopped the operation due to the flood in the city.
