GeNose Covid-19 Breath Test Screening Device Launches

5 February 2021 15:23 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) on Friday has officially introduced the GeNose C19 Covid-19 screening services in Jakarta’s major railway stations; Gambir and Pasar Senen.

“The service is KAI’s commitment to supporting the government program to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in railway transportation,” said KAI public relations Joni Martinus in a statement on Friday, February 5.

This adds to the existing Covid-19 screening tests such as the swab Antigen test or PCR test. Railway stations are subjected to the first introduction of the Indonesian-made screening device since the government has allowed long-haul public transport but only if they carry a health report card clearing them off from the virus using the existing coronavirus tests.

As for the cost, the GeNose test will cost Rp20,000, which is far more affordable than the existing alternatives. However, as it is a breath test device, people who want to be tested with GeNose are banned from consuming anything except water 30-minutes prior to taking the test.
