TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State Secretary Pratikno on Thursday said the State Palace has received the letter from Democrat Party chairperson Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) that was initially addressed to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on the alleged 'meddling' by Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko.
According to the State Secretary, the letter asked for the President’s clarification regarding the rumor that the Democrat Party was being meddled by Moeldoko. However, Pratikno noted that the letter’s substance does not need to be replied to.
“We have received the letter and we think we do not need to respond to the letter because it involves the internal dynamics of the political party of Democrat Party,” said Pratikno on February 4.
However, Tempo’s sources working in the government suggested that President Jokowi was 'disturbed' by the controversy that incriminates Moeldoko, mainly because it had caused a public fiasco as the government is working endlessly mitigating the Covid-19 pandemic.
The source said to Koran Tempo (Tempo newspaper) on Friday, February 5, that “The President ordered Moeldoko to stop the commotion with the Democrat Party.”
This can be corroborated by Moeldoko’s actions as he immediately held a press conference at his home after publicly denying AHY’s allegations on Monday.
