Police Claim Nabbed Suspected Terrorists Include Active FPI Members

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The South Sulawesi Police on Thursday announced that the dozens of captured suspected terrorists linked to the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) terror group are also members of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI). These suspects have been transported to Jakarta.
“They are registered as active FPI members,” said South Sulawesi Police spokesman Grand Commissioner E. Zulfan on Thursday, February 4.
Their link to the defunct mass-organization was revealed after investigators questioned the suspects. They are now transferred to Jakarta to undergo further investigation from the Densus 88 anti-terrorist police unit.
Out of the reported 20 people who were arrested, police suspect most of them are also related to FPI. The dozens of suspected JAD members were arrested by Densus 88 on January 6-7, 2021.
