Anies Baswedan Preps 6 New Cemeteries for Covid-19 Graves

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said there would be six new public cemeteries or TPU for graves of Covid-19 victims. However, the city administration is more focused on reducing virus transmission.
“We hope that the Covid-19 death rate does not increase. It is now 1.6 percent in Jakarta. Hopefully, it can be further suppressed,” said Anies at the Jakarta Metro Police on Wednesday, February 3.
Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria previously stated that the city prepared 17,900 grave plots to accommodate the Covid-19 bodies. The six cemeteries are as follows:
- TPU Bambu Apus 2 in Bambu Wulung, East Jakarta
Total area: 5 hectares (ha)
The used space: 3,000 square meters (m2)
Capacity: 800 burial plots
- TPU Srengseng Sawah 2 in South Jakarta
Total area: 3,4 ha
The used space: 1,2 ha
Capacity: 1,900 burial plots
- TPU Tegal Alur on Jalan Sahabat, West Jakarta
Total area: 1.3 ha
The used space: 5000 m2 (under preparation)
Capacity: 800 burial plots
- TPU Rorotan in North Jakarta
Total area: 25 ha (2 ha in priority)
The used space: 8,100 m2
Capacity: 1,500 burial plots
- RTH Jalan Kramat 3 Lubang Buaya, East Jakarta
Total area: 5.2 ha
Capacity: 9,000 burial plots
- RTH Jalan Raya Pondok Gede/Dukuh II in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta
Total area: 2.1 ha
Capacity: 3,900 burial plots
The preparation for the new burial grounds is carried out following the closure of three cemeteries specifically for Covid-19 bodies in Jakarta as they are full, namely TPU Tegal Alur in West Jakarta, TPU Pondok Ranggon in East Jakarta, and TPU Srengseng Sawah in South Jakarta.
Governor Anies Baswedan also set up some more Covid-19 referral hospitals, such as JMC Hospital, Sukmul Hospital, Petukangan Hospital, and Cendana Hospital, adding it to 106 hospitals.
