TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission V is set to summon Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi for today’s hearing on Wednesday, February 3. In the House hearing, members and regulators will discuss the aviation accident involving Sriwijaya Air Flight SJ-182 that fell from the skies into the Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu) waters.
“The hearing will take place at noon 13:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB),” said Commission V House Speaker, Lazarus, on Wednesday.
Lazarus explains that Commission V members will hear the detailed explanation regarding the incident from the parties linked to the accident. Other than the Transportation Minister, those summoned include Sriwijaya Air as the air carrier, the National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC), the national search and rescue agency (Basarnas), BMKG, and AirNav Indonesia.
The Sriwijaya Air flight SJ182 that crashed on January 9, 2021, carried 50 passengers and 12 crew members which all perished in the flight that seemingly fell from the sky and left scattering remains in the shallow ocean bed. The Basarnas eventually recovered 325 body bags and the two blackboxes.
However, the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) memory is still missing despite managing to recover the remaining equipment.
