PLN, Pertamina Sign Power Purchase Agreement for Rokan Block

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned power company PLN signed an agreement with Pertamina Hulu Rokan for the sales and purchase of electricity and steam. PLN will supply electricity and steam for the Rokan Block working area in Riau Province, which Pertamina will manage starting August 2021.
"With the signing of this agreement, PLN will officially supply electricity and steam for the Rokan working area," PLN's business director for Sumatra and Kalimantan, Wiluyo Kusdwiharto, said in a press conference Monday, February 1.
Meanwhile, Pertamina Hulu Rokan, the subsidiary of Pertamina, is committed to keep partnering with PLN as the supplier of electricity and steam.
Pertamina Hulu Rokan will start operating the Rokan Work Area on August 9 this year. In the electricity sales agreement, PLN will supply electricity for two separate periods. During the Transition Period of three years from August 2021 to August 2024, PLN will manage the existing power plants.
The Permanent Service will start afterward, where PLN will inter-connect the electricity system at the Rokan Work Area with the Sumatra Grid, with a capacity of 400 MW.
