TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) newly inaugurated Chief, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, issued a telegram stating that the PPKM public mobility and social restriction policy in the Covid-19 crisis looming over Java and Bali has not performed as expected to suppress the number of cases.
Head of police’s security maintenance agency Comm. Gen. Agus Andrianto in his statement on Monday, Feb 1, noted that the telegram focused on critical aspects such as the availability of isolation rooms and ICUs that have been exhausted by the sheer amount of patients.
The telegram that Agus signed ordered two special operations dubbed the Opspus Aman Nusa II-2021 dan Opsda Aman Nusa II-2021 which will analyze and evaluate the pandemic mitigation closely with regional leaders coordination forum (Forkompinda).
Police also noted the need for a better collective effort with local administrations, National Armed Forces (TNI), hospitals, and other stakeholders in the pandemic mitigation effort, especially in the delicate balance between self-isolations and hospital isolation rooms to better optimize hospital treatments.
The national telegram from the national police chief also implied that PPKM social restrictions need to be implemented uniquely to fit with local vital public aspects that would help the restriction to be better implemented.
