TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government planned to designate six more hotels across the capital as isolation centers for COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms, said the city’s Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Acting Head, Gumilar Ekalaya.
“Other than Graha and Wisma buildings, there are five hotels set as isolation sites,” said Gumilar before reporters at the City Hall on Monday, February 1.
The opening of the sites, he added, was depending on the readiness of the health workers who would treat patients. According to him, the government is having issues hiring more medical personnel in containing the pandemic.
“We really lack medical personnel, but the Health Ministry will figure it out,” Gumilar said.
The six integrated isolation sites are three-star hotels that will have more than 1,000 beds. People who test positive for the coronavirus disease with zero or mild symptoms can undergo self-quarantine in the isolation centers through a recommendation from a community health center (Puskesmas). Puskesmas will have the authority to determine the medical care of patients.
“As for the financing, it is from BNPB (National Disaster Mitigation Agency). Jakarta only manages technical issues,” Gumilar said.
