TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo suggested all districts and cities in Java and Bali enforce the community activity restrictions or PPKM. He hoped the mobility restriction could be more effective and the Covid-19 cases could be suppressed.
“The evaluation will be held tonight. [The policy implementation] is now only a week away and the impact is lacking. I’ve offered a suggestion to the central government that all regencies or cities in Java and Bali should participate in PPKM,” said Ganjar in his official statement, Monday, February 1.
Ganjar conveyed his input in a meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, on Sunday, January 31. This was also a response to President Joko Widodo or Jokowi's statement that the first volume of PPKM was ineffective in curbing virus transmission in Indonesia.
He believed there would be great impacts if all regions across Java and Bali enforced the PPKM. This, he added, had been carried out by all regents and mayors in Central Java.
The hospital bed occupancy rate in Central Java was below 60 percent, Ganjar Pranowo informed. However, the regional governments still had a lot of homework, particularly regarding public participation.
