TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police planned to summon hundreds of people who purchased counterfeit negative results of COVID-19 swab tests. On Jan. 18, the police apprehended a syndicate offering the service.
“There are hundreds of people buying fake swab test results. We will summon all of them,” said the airport police’s criminal investigation unit chief, Comr. Alexander Yurikho, on Friday, Jan. 22.
He added the police had sent the summonses to those people. Yet, to date, only four were present and willing to be examined.
According to Alexander, the call was aimed at asking for further information to complete the investigation report of the syndicate members who had been named suspects.
“There will also be a preliminary hearing to determine the status of the users of fake test results,” he said.
Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Chief Sr. Comr. Adi Ferdian Saputra announced on Jan. 18 that his side had arrested 15 people of a syndicate allegedly forging negative results of COVID-19 swab tests, rapid antibody tests, or rapid antigen tests at the airport.
