TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the COVID-19 pandemic had caused a crisis in various aspects, starting from the health, economy, up to family aspects. He interpreted this crisis as an acceleration of change.
“We are seeing an accelerated change amid this current health and economic crisis,” said Anies in an online public lecture of Gerakan Kebangkitan Betawi or Gerbang Betawi on Friday, Jan. 22.
Anies said the impact would be felt in the future and there would be a new chapter of life after the pandemic.
Thus, he asserted that people must learn to read dynamic trends. “We will experience a very different landscape. We do not know yet what it will look like,” said the former education and culture minister.
He went on to say that it would require willingness and ability to see what was happening around the world as a massive change.
According to Anies, the change is evident from the collapse of several business sectors, such as the tourism and transportation sectors. On the other hand, Anies Baswedan said several sectors were growing amid the pandemic, including the health sector.
