TEMPO.CO, Sleman - Sleman Regent Sri Purnomo announced that he was confirmed positive for coronavirus disease or Covid-19 on Thursday, Jan. 21.
Exactly a week ago, or on Thursday, Jan. 14, Sri was the first figure in the regency who receive the vaccine along with other regional officials.
“On Wednesday, (Jan. 20), I took an antigen swab test which came back positive. Then I took a PCR swab test and this morning the result showed positive for Covid,” said Sri via video footage published by the Sleman government on Thursday evening.
He asserted that his condition should be a lesson for the public to be more careful and disciplined in complying with the health protocols. Although he had been inoculated, he said the vaccine did not serve as medicine.
“The Covid-19 vaccine only promotes the body immunity against the Covid-19 so as to prevent one from contracting or having a severe illness,” Sri remarked, calling for the public discipline to the health protocols.
However, Sri claimed he was grateful as his lungs were clean based on the CT chest scan results. “Today, I’m in 100-percent good health and don’t develop any symptoms,” said the Sleman Regent who was in isolation at the official residence.
