TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday urged major businesses to establish partnerships with micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and create an equally beneficial situation.
This was mentioned by the President as he virtually ratified the partnership deal between foreign investors, domestic investment firms, and SMEs.
“This partnership-style business must be institutionalized and a win-win relation must be made,” said the President from the Bogor Presidential Palace on Monday, January 18. “Not to make larger businesses lose and have smaller ones win, but everyone must benefit.”
Jokowi urged larger enterprises to not only protect their self-interest and requested them to take notice of the environment the business is established in and involve SMEs to sustain their business activities. “Which will help elevate those MSMEs to a higher level,” he said.
He pledged for the government to continue helping build a supporting ecosystem that would enable these types of collaborations.
