TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo handed over the initial assistance of Rp4 billion for the basic operational needs of earthquake mitigation in West Sulawesi on Saturday, January 16.
Doni explained the province will receive Rp 2 billion, while Mamuju and Majene Regencies will receive Rp1 billion each.
BNPB also distributed 8-set of isolation tents, 10-set of refugee tents, 2,004 food packages, 2,004 instant food packages, 1,002 side dish packages, 700 pieces of blankets, 5 Light Tower units, 200 Velbed units, 500 baby necessities, 500,000 cloth masks, 700 packages of noodle, and 30 units of 5 KVA generators.
West Sulawesi Administration has set the emergency status in the region due to the earthquake in Majene that claimed 46 lives. Doni asked for the status to be optimized until the next one or two weeks.
“The duration may take longer depends on the condition in the field,” the BNPB chief remarked.
