TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan asked Covid-19 vaccine recipients to have a sense of responsibility to society. According to him, getting a vaccine does not mean that someone could set aside the predetermined health protocols.
Anies made the statement before health workers, officials, and public figures who were inoculated today, Jan. 15, at the City Hall, Central Jakarta. He underlined that those who have been vaccinated still have the potential to transmit coronavirus when exposed to the virus.
“We must not be the spreaders. The key message in this vaccination program is that we can be protected. Now it is our responsibility to protect others from being exposed [to the virus],” said Anies in the live broadcast via Jakarta Government’s YouTube channel today.
He reiterated that what had often been discussed thus far was about how to avoid getting coronavirus infection, rather than about how much potential vaccinated people could infect others if exposed to the disease.
Anies Baswedan said that those who were vaccinated today were expected to share messages about the Covid-19 vaccination as an effort to break the chain of virus transmission.
