TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) Commission IX member Netty Prasetyani said that the government should be more careful in vetting the quality of influencers that are invited to be the first Covid-19 vaccine recipients.
In this case, Netty refers to celebrity Raffi Ahmad who had reportedly attended a party the night after he received his Covid-19 vaccine shot and violated health protocols.
"There is one influencer who was invited to receive the Covid-19 vaccine shot but went on to party in the night without wearing a face mask and whatnot. This is not a good example," said Netty in the Commission IX House hearing with Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin on January 14, 2021.
Netty said that she had to acknowledge this issue as it has been complained by doctors that had asked her to bring it to the hearing attended by the Health Ministry representatives. She also said discipline towards health protocols must be equally upheld, especially for the 'influencers' that the government has helped promote.
Moreover, the Presidential Palace has reportedly acknowledged this issue and ordered the Covid-19 communication team to address it directly to Raffi Ahmad. As for the influencer himself, Raffi published his public apology through his Instagram account following public pressure.
