TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta government promises to add more referral hospitals to maintain the availability of Covid-19 wards in the capital. Deputy governor Ahmad Riza Patria said the government will keep making efforts to have more hospitals able to treat people infected with the novel coronavirus.
Speaking in Jakarta on Wednesday, January 13, Riza said that the isolation wards for Covid-19 patients in the capital are at a critical point with more than 80 percent load factor. Therefore, the government is trying to get private hospitals to treat Covid-19 patients.
"We invite private hospitals to join and prepare various Covid referral facilities and hospitals for Covid-19 patients," he said.
To date, only 10 percent of private hospitals in Jakarta have become Covid-19 referral hospitals. And the government wants more.
"Of course, it must not affect the health services for patients of other diseases," Riza said.
