13 January 2021 13:30 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaNational Police Chief General Idham Azis asked all officers and the public not to hesitate to take part in the Covid-19 vaccination. Idham was among the first recipients of the Covid-19 vaccine to boost public confidence.

“This morning, the Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander and I got our first dose of the vaccine. I hope that the entire police officers from Sabang to Merauke can witness it, and there is no need to doubt [about the vaccine],” said Idham at Jakarta Merdeka Palace on Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Idham hoped that all people would receive the vaccine so that Indonesia could quickly recover from the difficult time of the pandemic. “This is also a message to all Indonesians that we have to carry out vaccinations to get out of the pandemic situation that hit almost all countries,” he added.

Today, Jan. 13, Indonesia kicked off the Covid-19 vaccination program. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo was the first recipient along with representatives from state officials, community leaders, religious leaders, entertainers, and health workers at the Merdeka Palace.

The vaccination used the vaccine developed by Sinovac which had obtained an emergency Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drugs Monitoring Agency (BPOM).
