TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno planned to establish over 200 tourist villages in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), to support Labuan Bajo as a super-priority tourism destination.
“Earlier as I arrived in Pasir Panjang village on Rinca Island, I had the chance to see one of the Komodo animal pop dances, which is an icon for the village that will support potential tourist villages here,” said Sandiaga in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, Friday, Jan. 8, 2021.
According to him, the development of the tourist village must involve the locals, and of course, that would open job opportunities as wide as possible for the local community.
As a super-priority tourist attraction, he argued that Labuan Bajo must be able to empower the community and tourist villages. He added that the development was necessary to support the villages, including the animal pop dances and the local wisdom.
Sandiaga made his first working visit as Tourism and Creative Economy Minister in West Manggarai today, Jan. 8, 2021.
In a discussion with locals, Sandiaga Uno called on local communities, tourism players, and creative economy activists in the region to develop the tourism potential in Labuan Bajo.
