TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The sixth Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or SBY on Friday said the news about numerous Covid-19 vaccinations around the globe sends an uplifting message of hope. He viewed that it could be a turning point towards ending the pandemic.
"I am sure that Indonesians, including myself, are pinning our hopes towards the government to commence the national vaccination properly. This must be successful and must not fail," said SBY on January 8, 2021.
However, he noted that there are a number of aspects that need to be understood, which is the period to conduct the nationwide vaccination for Indonesia’s more than 200 thousand population.
"Don’t let the attempts to mitigate the Covid-19 pandemic to slacken, which includes implementing necessary restrictions," said the former president and leader of the Democrat Party.
He also acknowledged the different time goals where the vaccination would be completed among state officials. SBY said he does not intend to debate about the difference in the government predictions, asserting that the program must be implemented with near-perfection.
