TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo asserted that investment is the main determinant of national economic recovery amidst the downturn in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. He also asked state officials at the central and regional administrations not to hinder investment flow in the country.
“Once again, even though I have repeatedly said this, ministries and regional administrations must not hinder investment,” said the President when opening today’s limited meeting on the pandemic handling and vaccination program at State Palace, Central Jakarta, January 6.
The state budget, he added, was impossible to cover all development projects in Indonesia. Thus, he instructed ministries, institutions, and regional governments to provide fast and proper services of investment.
“I entrust large investment to be handled by governors so that it can be realized in the area,” the state head remarked.
Jokowi underlined that economic recovery is one of the government’s three main strategies in containing the pandemic. The two others are the health sector and social protection.
For this reason, he called on all elements to strive and work hard to make the goals achieved. Moreover, the condition of the Covid-19 pandemic is worsening not only in Indonesia but also in the world.
